Pepík Ševců is one of the main characters in Josef Lada’s stories about Mikeš the cat. He shares a close friendship with Mikeš, and together with their other friends, they go on all sorts of adventures in their hometown of Hrusice.
The character of Pepík also has a personal connection to the author himself. Josef Lada drew on his own childhood and family background to create him—his father was a shoemaker, which is where Pepík’s name comes from.
